The Carver Family

Our beloved Carver Family and brother Conservation Officer/K9 Handler needs our help right now.

Their 15 year old daughter Paityn has been battling a severe case of Crohn’s disease. A condition in which her immune system mistakenly attacks her gastrointestinal tract. Paityn’s symptoms abruptly began the month she turned 12 years old. It took them multiple doctor trips before she ended up lifeless and near death at Primary Children’s Hospital. After two years of intense therapy she began to see some improvement just as their health insurance required a switching of medication. This switch caused a new condition called leukocytoclastic vasculitis. Now her immune system was attacking her blood vessels and her lungs. After multiple surgeries and failed treatments, she was in need of yet another hospitalization. These hospitalizations and ER visits have become too many to count over the last 6 months.

A time in which her older brother began coughing and experiencing bouts of high fevers. Jaden had just returned from a 2 year LDS mission in Brazil. This created a conundrum of possibilities for diagnosis, and due to the covid-19 pandemic, it was a challenge to physically get into seeing a doctor. Paityn was on her way to Primary Children’s again for uncontrollable blood loss from her colon, while her brother was left at home progressing rapidly with 103 degree temperatures daily.

His doctor ordered a CT scan where they discovered a large mass in his chest. The family made the decision to have them both under the same roof. Jaden was admitted to Primary Children’s Hospital, where doctors and staff urgently worked for a diagnosis. Preliminary observations from a biopsy of the mass was consistent with Hodgkin’s lymphoma; multiple tests and full pathology reports are needed before a treatment plan is put into place.

Both children are exceptional youth. Jaden is known to the community as a very talented artist and is currently working on a children's book for the Utah Conservation Officers Association. Both are avid soccer players, and loving siblings to three additional sisters.

Jaden’s life after serving a faithful and dedicated mission, came to a screeching halt. With a persistent cough and fever during the tragic worldwide pandemic of Covid-19. His family is working hard to remain hopeful he and his sister can both get treatment that will allow them to live full meaningful lives.
