The Cardinal Initiative

In the small town of Atwood in Northwest Kansas, it is easy to get distracted by its natural beauty and friendly faces. Though Atwood may be scenic, it and many other surrounding communities find it difficult to maintain reliable mental health resources. In 2020 and 2021, Rawlins County suffered the loss of eight people to suicide out of a total population of approximately 2,500 people. It was that which inspired the creation of The Cardinal Initiative.

The Cardinal Initiative is a nonprofit organization geared toward bringing reliable, multifaceted, and consistent mental healthcare to Rawlins County and the surrounding communities. Cardinal hopes to bring real change to the area by providing numerous avenues for people to choose from when seeking the care they need.
