The Bringhurst Family

In the early hours of October 18th, our dear friend, colleague, cast mate, father, husband, Rusty Bringhurst attempted to end his own life. Currently, Rusty is fighting for his life in the ICU of Lakeview Hospital. While the Bringhurst family has medical insurance, the cost of the hospitalization, rehabilitation and with Rusty being unable to work, they have found themselves in dire need of monetary support. As many of you are aware, Rusty is married to Sunny and they have two beautiful children, Clue and Rowen Finch. This family now has a long, very difficult road of healing ahead of them. Our hope is to all chip in and support this wonderful man and his amazing wife during this time of extreme need.

To be frank, addiction is a powerful enemy. An enemy that has ruined many lives. We cannot pretend to know or understand what goes through another’s mind when they feel that their only option to escape the pain of mental anguish and struggle of addiction is to end their life. Rusty has found himself in the fight of his life with this terrible opponent. Addiction and depression are tough enough to deal with on their own, but combine them and the negative effects will multiply. The good news is that treatment and therapy can lead to very good outcomes. Depression and addiction are not signs of weakness; it is a brain disorder that is likely caused by a combination of genetic, biological, environmental and psychological factors. (Psychology Today, 2018) Clue and Rowen deserve to have a happy, healthy, and whole father in their lives. Rusty deserves to get well. Sunny deserves to have the support of our vast community during this time.
