The Bob Kindle Memorial Fund
Donation protected
Bob Kindle, caretaker and shuttle driver for Stanimal's 328 Hostel and Shuttle Service in Glasgow, Virginia, experienced a heart attack on Saturday Sept. 23rd while traveling US501 near James River Footbridge enroute to pickup three section hikers at Petites Gap along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Unfortunely, Bob did not survive and perished at the scene.
It is with the heaviest of hearts and deepest sympathy that we are beginning this funeral/memorial page for Bob's family, wife Donna, son Bucky, and daughter Devin. Through this page, we are hoping to assist them with funeral costs and short term living expenses. Devin hopes to attend college in 2018. She is a high school senior.
Many of you have stayed with us at Stanimal's or have been shuttled by Bob or Bucky in and around Glasgow or have enjoyed Donna's wonderful meals at the house. Bob and his family have been true servants of the Appalachian Trail and those who enjoy it. Bob was so thankful to have the company of the many guests in 2017. He loved sitting out under the porch and sharing stories of life and the trail with hikers. He was a gentle soul, loved the outdoors, and was a protector of the environment. Bob also proudly served our nation as a Vietnam Veteran.
Donna, Bob's wife, along with their children Devin and Bucky, will continue to serve the community at Stanimal's Hostel in Glasgow moving forward. We have arranged these funds to go directly to Donna so that she can have immediate access to the assistance for Bob's funeral. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide during this difficult time.
