A message from Matt, Jamie & Casey -
As many of you know we made the tough decision 2 weeks ago to close the doors of The Blind Rhino temporarily in both locations. What you may not know is that as a result we regrettably had to lay off our entire workforce and help them file for temporary unemployment, to at least preserve some sort of guaranteed income.
This has all been very surreal, and difficult. But our decisions continue with both the best interests of the staff & the business jointly in mind.
That unemployment process has proven to be a drag and a real stress, and in almost all cases is taking multiple weeks to even process.
Our staff is the lifeblood of our restaurants in both South Norwalk & Black Rock, CT. Not only have they become family to us, but also to our customers, as those customers have in return. The relationships built over years between our staff and our customers makes us incredibly proud.
Anything we can all do to aid our staff during this time is helpful. And it’s genuinely heartwarming that you’re all obviously thinking the same. We have had an outpouring of support, and a flood of people asking "how can we help?!" We think we’ve found a good answer, where the community can directly help their favorite Rhinos.
So many have supported The Blind Rhino in these past few weeks, emotionally through innumerable messages, emails and calls, but also financially through gift cards and merchandise purchases.
We have decided to create an outlet for those able to also help employees directly and monetarily during this mandated shutdown. Please considering supporting them as you have been supporting The Blind Rhino. Even a couple bucks here will go a very long way.
100% of funds collected will be distributed to our employees! We recognize that our business and employees are not alone in suffering the economic burden levied by this outbreak.
