The Big Splash- Red Bluff, CA

Tax deductible
Soroptimist International of Red Bluff (SIRB), a non profit 501(c)(3) organization has proposed a plan to build a splash park at the Red Bluff, CA River Park. The Red Bluff City Council has agreed to support the project and so SIRB is launching this fundraising campain to collect funds to construct and donate a splash park to the City of Red Bluff.  The plan consists of a splash park that is nature inspired to fit with the River Theme of the park offering elements that look like frogs, turtles, cat tails, butterflies, and fish.  The various water elemenets will include ground sprays, fountains, rainbow like features, bucket drops, water cannons and so much more! The park will have lighted water features with LED lighting that will allow the park to have a unique night time lighting, and will be perfect for evening events.  The proposed location is at the Red Bluff River park located between the McGlynn Pool and the Bandstand.  There is currently a playground in this space that will be relocated.

The parks located in the City of Red Bluff are not currently accessble for children with disabilities.  This plan was derived by a member of our club, Vici Miranda, who has a 6 year old with disabilities and he loves water!  She states, "Red Bluff has such a huge need for an adaptive park, and a park revitalization effort will really pull the community together to accomplish and create something truly amazing."   The plan for this new splash park is that it will be an INCLUSIVE park that is accessible for ALL children and for all ages to enjoy.  The surface will be level and roll-able making it easy to access for children that use wheelchairs or other accessability devices to easily access.

The cost of the splash park is yet to be determined, but from preliminary estimates, we're estimating  the park to cost approximatly $500,000.  This figure is of course subject to change. Funds raised in excess to this figure will be dedicated to the splash park by means of additional accessible playground equiptment and improvements, and reserve funds for future maintenance of the the splash park.

We anticipate that we will reach our fundraising goal in 2019, and as soon as we have fully funded this project, we will commence construction.  The committee has set a goal for a grand opening of Memorial Day 2020.  The City of Red Bluff Staff will be providing the committee with their scope of requirements for the project and we will surely update the public on time lines as the project commences.
