The Auer Family House Fire

Update: We are aware that there were two Go Fund Me's made. It was created with good intentions from a neighbor Korina Goldsmith, that is a Junior at Hempfield High School. They are both genuine and moving forward only this one will be active, since it is confusing to the public. We don't want the family to lose any donations if there is questions if either is valid. Hi, My name is Jessica Camarote and I am a family friend of the Auer's. More like they are an extension of my own family. I am creating this Go Fund Me with a heavy heart from the tragedy that occurred on January 2nd 2022. The Auer's, Maury and Maureen, along with their daughter Maurissa and her husband Brendan Kuntz were out of town for the holidays and were to return home that unfortunate evening. Their house was being watched and their three dogs Azzie, Little Girl and Buddie and two turtles Timmy and Millie were being cared for several times a day.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The evening of January 2nd in trying to manage some travel interruptions, the family was monitoring the dogs from the Furbo where they would talk to the animals and throw treats, when they noticed one of the dogs acting differently and then they noticed the camera fill with smoke. They called 911 and called some family to get to the house in the hopes to save the dogs and turtles. The fire erupted quickly and there was some hope that maybe the dogs escaped.

 

 

 

 

The firemen worked through out the entire evening to save the house, almost all was lost.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Their one turtle Timmy was rescued and is doing well.

 

 

 

 

 

With everything else their flight was canceled that evening with no more available flights out until two days from then. The family rented a car and drove from Florida immediately but did not see their home until the following evening once the smoke was clear and they could see what remains were left from their lifetime. The fire is noted to be accidental and at this time they are not exactly sure how it started as it is still being investigated. Things are obviously replaceable and it is an absolute blessing that there was no one in the house at the time of the fire. Two firemen were injured from trying to enter the home during the fire, they are recovering. We thank them all for being there and trying to save the home. However, the loss of their pets is a traumatic and heartbreaking ending. I am organizing this with the hopes to help take some financial burden off their shoulders in helping them rebuild their lives back.
