THE ACT ONE PROJECT FALL & ONWARD!!

Donation protected
The Act One Project is an Orange County, CA-based high school theatre company. Created by a high schooler attending the Orange County School of The Arts, the Act One Project strives to produce a variety of contemporary, new works and meaningful, absurdist theatre.

This fall, the Act One Project has created an INCREDIBLE opportunity - but we need YOUR help! In order to put this plan into action, we need help garnering the funding. Our estimate, $6,500 covers the ability to produce the full show in a truly special way. We have plans to give our actors personal, intensive-styled training with the writers and creators of the show. If we exceed this goal, we’ll be able to produce even more incredible opportunities, ranging from additional performances to special masterclasses, workshops, and showcases. We even have the potential to look into purchasing a long-term performance space, or opening production opportunities for more age groups.

We've set up this GoFundMe to help raise money to provide for our fall show and onward. Funding toward this campaign will go directly to The Act One Project. We have plans to use this money to cover everything from venue fees and costuming to smaller things like concessions or props.

Shall funding permit, the Act One Project plans to produce the pilot production of "blueprint: a new musical" Written by Matt Copley, the show follows the story of Mason, a college freshman studying at Smithsdale University. He and his friends Olivia, Charlie, and Anthony create a virtual utopia to escape the harsh struggles of reality. With topical themes regarding technology, this show is perfect for teenage audiences. Whether we’re battling distanced learning, or fighting social media addictions, we all have our online utopia’s we escape to. The story of Mason, Olivia, Charlie, and Anthony is one that almost all teenagers can relate to in one way or another.

With a one-month rehearsal schedule, the first two weeks will be spent with the original 5 people that brought this show to life in workshops. These weeks will span the full show - music, blocking, choreography, and everything else. Our actors will be placed into an immersive workshop/intensive set of rehearsals where they'll experience a broadway-like rehearsal process! This show will provide teenage actors with the fundamentals of professional rehearsal work. The fast-paced nature of the two weeks will teach actors the importance of organization, and give everyone lessons in the acting realm.

Directing and working behind the scenes has been one of my strongest passions since I was 10. I have fond memories of working the lights for my elementary school productions, and creating choreography for popular musicals like "Mamma Mia!" and "Tuck Everlasting." The ability to work with the team on this musical and create something extraordinary is something I've dreamt up for a long time. I really hope you see the potential that my company has, and I can't wait for the fall and onward. Thank you all so much!! <3
