The 2021 Run for Grace Resources Fundraiser

Hi, I'm Anthony!

In 2017, I ran 26.2 miles and completed my first marathon. Oh my gosh it sucked. so freaking painful. But I did it. Shortly after, a friend asked if I would ever do it again. I quickly said, hell no!

A few months later, I was training for the 2018 LA Marathon. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment.

I already did one for personal achievement, so this time I wanted to do it for something bigger than myself. Others.

In the later years of my mothers life, she was homeless. Here in my hometown of the Antelope Valley. That was her bottom from a life of drugs and alcohol addiction. The effects of being physically and mentally abused throughout most of her life. Fortunately, she was able to get off the streets and reconnect with family in her few remaining years. She died at 54. Another victim.

One of the organizations that helped her through her time on the streets was Grace Resources. Without their services, I am not sure if she would have lived to get those few precious years with her loved ones.

So when I decided to use the LA Marathon as a platform to help those in need, Grace Resources immediately came to mind. That fundraiser was the first of what is now a yearly tradition and was the motivation for my wife and I to start our own separate nonprofit, Run for Grace, Inc. so we can help out other organizations in our community through our passion for running.

Due to the pandemic, we had to make some adjustments to the 2021 Run for Grace Resources fundraiser, so instead of what would normally be a Team effort is now being brought back to its roots by having it be a solo effort. Me. And just like the original goal. We are shooting for $1500 which will go towards the meals that Grace Resources provides to families for Thanksgiving.
