Thanks to Her Feature Film (PPE Fund)

Thanks to Her is a story about Millie Blake (AJ Molder), a high school senior soccer player, who has her life turned upside down after an altercation with an out and proud classmate of hers, Andy Wellick (Julia de Avilez Rocha). As punishment, the two girls get sentenced to a month of community service at a local nursing home. As she begins to not only bond with two of the residents, Jade and Pepper, but with Andy too, Millie begins to understand more about herself and becomes more confident in who she is.
We are looking to expand the Thanks to Her story. Thanks to Her started as a short film made in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania by students at the University of Pittsburgh. The film was originally written to be a feature, but due to funding and time restraints, the first half of the feature was created as a short film. Our goal is to continue telling the story of Thanks to Her.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, we are ready to begin production! We have locations booked and we are in the process of casting, and we are spending our budget as wisely as we can.
Is extremely important to us to run a safe set, so we will be following standard on-set COVID protocols. However, to do this would mean re-allocating a significant portion of our budget to things like testing, PPE, COVID training, etc. The health of our cast and crew is priority number one to us, but we would love for the money that we raised to be spent on the more creative aspects of filmmaking (sets, cameras, paying cast and crew). We are now asking for an additional $5,000 to be spent on the following:
-PPE
-COVID Compliance Training
-Testing for cast and crew
-Additional insurance costs due to COVID
-Maintaining the highest safety standards possible for our set
Any additional funds leftover will be going to feeding and watering our cast and crew, as craft services and catering are another considerable expense.
We were able to put together our first bout of fundraising with a large group of donors, with the majority of donations ranging from $15-$100.
We know that with just a little bit of help from you, we will be able to reach our fundraising goal, so we can make the feature film as good as possible, while keeping our team safe and healthy.
