Davids Fight Against Cancer

Dear Family and Friends,
On behalf of our cousin David Lopez, we are reaching out to all who read this story to find it in your heart to help out David and his family throughout this difficult battle. In March 2017, David noticed a lump in his right shoulder which led him to seek medical attention. His doctor told him it was a torn bicep and referred him to physical therapy which he endured for 5 months and during this time the bump in his shoulder rapidly grew larger. In August 2017, CT scans were done which revealed a very large tumor which had been rapidly growing in his right shoulder this whole time. On September 11th of 2017, David had the tumor removed and reconstructive surgery on his right arm. Biopsy results from the tumor revealed he had stage 3 soft tissue Sarcoma. He could not start any cancer treatments due to the surgical wounds needed to heal.
In February 2018, David started radiation treatments for 35 rounds which lasted 7 weeks. In the months to follow, David received more scans which revealed 4 nodules in his right lung. These nodules were biopsied and unfortunately have now been diagnosed as stage 4 Sarcoma with metastasis to the lung. Through the grace of God, David was referred to some of the best oncology doctors in Seattle and was able to get in a clinical trial at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. On July 27th, he received 1 treatment of immunotherapy and thank God he had no ill effects.
David will now be starting courses of aboth chemotherapy and immunotherapy on August 17th. He will be traveling to Seattle every 3 weeks for 6 rounds of this combination treatment. After completion of this dual therapy, he will endure immunotherapy for at least 2 years. As his family, we are amazed at how courageous and positive David is and how dedicated to this fight he is for himself and his family. He is a very proud husband to Theresa and father to Sarah, Bekka and Maddie. He would never want to burden his family but as his family, we know this is no way a burden. We want him to stay focused on beating this cancer and getting better. If we could raise the funds to help lessen any financial burdens from him, then that is what we will do. We are reaching out to family, friends and colleagues tor reach inside your heart and give whatever you can afford to help David and his family with any unforeseen financial expenses.
