Terry's Stem Cell Transplant

This is my Father, Terry Lewis, and he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia on June 10, 2017. He went through three rounds of chemotherapy and was hospitalized at the VA hospital in Oklahoma City for three months before he reached remission in September. Unfortunately, by the end of October, Dad's white blood cell count was skyrocketing and the Leukemia was back. Dad is hospitalized once again and undergoing a 4th round of chemotherapy in hopes to once again attain remission. Unfortunately, the VA can not provide him with the services needed and he will be transferring to OU Medical for further treatment. At that point, he will need a stem cell transplant in hopes of curing his illness.  He has a 100% donor match,  which is such a blessing! My Father has not been able to work as the Executive Chef at Oklahoma Baptist University since being diagnosed with Leukemia and my step mother is a homemaker.  As you can imagine, they are very worried about finances. Medical treatment does not come cheap and due to the transfer to OU Medical, the VA will not cover the remaining treatment he needs to survive. Even with private insurance a stem cell transplant will cost anywhere from $100,000-$200,000.  Our immediate goal is to meet the $6000.00 deductible for his private insurance to begin the stem cell treatment.  Our long term goal is to help with the costs of the stem cell treatment that is needed to save his life.
