Terri's Tender Heart

Donation protected
This beautiful lady is the love of my life, and the most amazing woman I have ever known!

As most of you know, Terri was diagnosed in late August, 2016, with stage 3 cervical cancer - stage 3B, to be exact, because the tumor had encroached on the ureter descending from her left kidney, severely hampering the function of the kidney.

After 4 months of treatment - which included surgeries to restore the function of her kidney (to allow for successful chemotherapy), 6 chemotherapy, 28 external radiation treatments and 5 high dose brachytherapy (internal radiation) treatments - we were confident the tumor had been virtually obliterated.

In late February, 2017, Terri had a follow-up CT scan, after the swelling and other radiation side effects subsided, to determine if there was any remaining cancer.  The scan revealed no obvious tumors, but, did show a couple of suspicious looking small spots in her aortic cavity (lower abdomen), behind her bladder and uterus.  Her oncologist wasn't overly concerned at the time, thinking these could still be swollen scar tissue from radiation, and said we would keep an eye on them in future scans.

Throughout this process, Terri has remained strong and determined to defeat this insidious disease.  During her four months of treatment, she was on short term disability from her work, receiving a small percentage of her regular income, and I was on unpaid Family Medical Leave from my teaching job, while caring for her, full time.  Both of us returned to work in January, as we awaited the results of her follow-up scan.

As you may imagine, aside from Terri's physical battle, this overall process has taken quite a toll on our financial well being, which led me to create this Go Fund Me campaign.  While we have been very blessed by a number of generous donations, we remain in serious need of immediate financial assistance - especially now that her cancer has accelerated (see the update, below).

As believers in Christ, Terri and I are absolutely confident in the LORD's promise of provision for our every need.  It is with this belief and faith in His love and unfailing kindness that we reach out to our friends, family and others, knowing without a doubt that He will meet both our need and yours.

Thank you so much for your prayers, love and constant encouragement; and may God richly bless you as you consider supporting our campaign.

The battle is the Lord's, to God be the glory!!
(Jeremiah 29:11, Proverbs 3:5-6)

Much love and blessings to all,

Dave & Terri Hayes

(UPDATE:  In April and August, 2017, further CT scans  revealed Terri's cancer had metasticized and spread into her lymph glands, and her diagnosis was elevated to Stage 4 Metastatic Cervical Cancer.  She is now in the middle of a new 6-treatment course of more aggressive chemotherapy, and our campaign goal has increased to $30,000, to meet our continuing financial obligations.  Please read the campaign updates to follow our progress and submit donations.  Thank you, and God bless you!)
