TEAM TERI was created for our dear friend and neighbor, Teri Massey. Teri & Greg, along with daughters Bry and Taylor have lived in Wilmington for 10 years. Teri is on the right end in the family photo. The main goal in coming to Wilmington was to improve quality of life for their family. They have certainly made a beautiful and welcoming home here. We who live close to Teri and know her well, feel secure she will always be there if any one of us needed anything. As her friends now, our wish is to be there for her.
Recently, Teri was diagnosed with the rare cancer of the appendix, PMP. Teri has already gone through two surgeries and consulted with the expert in this cancer, Edward Levine, MD at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. Teri is scheduled for surgery mid April and chemo therapy at that Medical Center. There is no way in predicting the length of Teri's recovery or time in the hospital. Teri, will no doubt, be unable to return to her full time job for some time following more surgery.
Sadly, so many people are in the very same situation as Teri and her family. The unknown complications and challenges faced when someone is ill are overwhelming. Add the stress of financial burdens that can and will be put on them and it can be devastating.
Our mission statement, as TEAM TERI, is to support the Massey Family emotionally, and to work to have funds available for them as needed during Teri's recovery. We also hope to raise awareness of how any cancer or illness affects individuals and families every day. If you are unable to make a donation on Teri's behalf, we ask you pray and choose hope for the Massey Family.
