Tereasa's Emergency Surgery

Donation protected
As many of you know by now, Tereasa Payne had emergency surgery on December 8th for stage 4 endometriosis. Thankfully, the da Vinci Robotic Surgery was a great success and Tereasa is on her way to recovery.

As you can imagine this type of surgery is very expensive, even with health insurance.

Tereasa and her husband Simon, both talented musicians, were on the same tour when Tereasa found out she needed this surgery.

She had to leave the tour (and the income) 3 weeks early as well as not being able to work for the 4-6 weeks recovery time.

In order to not lose too much income, Simon and Teresa had to make the difficult decision for him to stay with the tour while she underwent this major surgery back home in New York City. As you know of their relationship, it was very hard for the two of them to be apart during this challenging time, but it was a necessity.

Tereasa's Story

Tereasa has apparently had the symptoms of this disease for years, not knowing what the cause was, with the pain steadily building and coming to a head in April 2017. Due to an allergic reaction to a blood pressure medicine, it apparently caused the endometriosis masses to swell and cause her a great deal of pain, nausea, and lack of mobility from that point on.

She went on to see many specialists, and underwent multiple ultrasounds, CAT scans, and MRIs, trying to get to the bottom of what was going on with her body. No one had answers.

All the while she continued to work as a woodwind musician, and be the  wonderful, caring person she is to so many, some whom did not even realize she was in such incredible discomfort.

Finally, at the end of November she had an appointment with a top surgeon in this field.  At that appointment, it was immediately decided that if the endometriosis was left without surgery for much longer, there was a danger of Tereasa losing parts of her bladder and possibly other organs the disease had attacked.

She had Ten days to fly back to where her tour was, play a few performances while they found a replacement for her as Reed 1, say goodbye to her husband and prepare herself for the surgery, as well as the recovery.

Her incredible Mom changed her Christmas plans and flew in from Nebraska to take care of her daughter immediately. Tereasa, ever the planner, ordered food and supplies ahead of time to be delivered to her house for after the surgery so her Mom wouldn't have to worry about it.

She handled all this with grace and determination while still in tremendous pain from the endometriosis.

Because of her surgery she is now on her way to being pain free once and for all.

Simon will finally be home on Christmas Eve, traveling straight through the night after the last performance of the tour to be with Tereasa.

Once Tereasa is fully healed, she will be able to be reunited with beloved Corgi, Randal, who is staying with family.

Thank you for thinking of Tereasa and her family during this holiday season. We know it is a tough time of year to be asking for money but image if even 100 people were able to give $10 – what a great help that would be for them.

Whether or not you are able to give, thank you for taking the time to read Tereasa's story.

Please if you can, help and share the message.

All our best,
Anna Penning, MarieElena McGonigle, & Mary Bernardi

Please note: All donations will be used to cover medical expenses not covered by insurance as well as her living expenses until she can get back to working.  With Tereasa as the beneficiary to this campaign, she will have direct access to all donations.
