Tejiendo Caminos - Autonomous Film Mutual Aid Fund

Donation protected
Tejiendo Caminos (weaving paths) is a collective of people that came together years ago to enact mutual aid projects with asylum seekers migrating through so-called Mexico. We started collaborating with migrants, centering womxn and those from the lgbtq+ community, on the northern border in Tijuana and later as Tapachula Migrant Solidarity at the southern border point in Tapachula. Throughout the years we have been able to document and elevate the stories of asylum seekers on their migration journeys while simultaneously fundraising survival money for migrants and migrant-run mutual aid projects. To find out more about this work or to donate you can access our gofundme , our instagram @xxtap_sol and our youtube .

In addition, we have most recently been intertwined with and supporting the work of the queer and feminist resistance happening in Mexico City. Our most recent independent documentary, Dwelling/Purple shows a mix of feminist and queer/trans black block communities, victims of gender violence and relatives of the disappeared and femicide victims who tell a story of the takeover of the National Human Rights Building in downtown Mexico City that was turned into a community center and living space and still remains today.

Safely documenting powerful resistance against the Mexican state has been pertinent for sustaining survival mutual aid projects and fundraising money for migrating asylum seekers and their families. Unfortunately we have hit a wall with our ability to continue to make create these films and continue our projects until we can raise money for new equipment. Our gear is very old and has been damaged in the course of the years and throughout numerous protests. With constant production of footage, we need a new hard drive, data transfer cables, computer charger, NoBreak, memory cards, and more storage archives.

Please consider donating if you have the means and sharing this with your friends, family and community, it means the world to us to continue to be able to do this work.
