Tee Jays Travels
On 3rd August 2018, after lots of X-ray’s and MRI scans, TeeJay aged 5 got diagnosed with a rare childhood condition called Perthes disease. Perthes disease is a rare childhood condition that affects the hip. It occurs when the blood supply to the rounded head of the femur (thighbone) is temporarily disr-upted. Without an adequate blood supply, the bone cells die, a process called avascular necrosis. No-one knows what causes this disease, but is extremely painful.
On 8th October an excited Tee Jay set of for his caravan holiday , on the 9th Tee Jay was in so much pain local paramedics arrived at the caravan park and administered pain relief ( morphine and Brufen) before they could transfer him to the Blackpool Victoria Hospital, were he spent the rest of his hols.
On returning home tee jay attended his con-sultants appointment at the Royal Hospital for sick children in Edinburgh where he was told that his Perthes disease had hit the worst stage and his consultant would have to intervene.
On 7th January 19, tee jay had a femoral osteatemy (cut the thigh bone, push ball joint as close to the socket so it can reform and place a metal plate and pins to hold it in place.) When tee jay was in theatre a piece of his thigh bone snapped completely which meant he needed a larger plate and more screws. This meant tee jay was unable to weight bare for 9 weeks.
After my 11 year old son Riley overheard a conversation that me and his granny where having, about everything tee jay has been through since being diagnosed with Perthes disease and the pain and suffering he has had to go through and the appointments he has had to attend , Riley thought it would be nice if we could try and raise some money sothat tee jay could go back to Blackpool with his family in October 2020, after his next operation in January 2020. I thought this was a really kind gesture and was very proud when he came to me with his idea. So we decided to set up this page to see if we could raise the lovey for his trip.
In the meantime tee jay will continue getting physio therapy until his operation. At the moment the consultant is unsure of tee jays outcome but hopefully after some years he will be back to his normal self again.
Any small donation is appreciated and will go along way to seeing tee jay re live his Blackpool holiday. Thanks to everyone who’s reading xxxxx
