TEAM RICKY

Ricky Harrison was in a tragic car accident that left him paralyzed from the chest down.  He was airlifted to the hospital and underwent surgery for his severed vertebra.  He then developed serious complications and spent 23 days in the Trauma Intensive Care Unit, fighting for his life. 

Ricky is currently receiving spinal therapy and rehabilitation at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia.  He is learning how to live in a whole new way, and is re-learning even the most basic skills.  Once he goes home, he will continue his therapy on an outpatient basis.      

Despite the difficult road ahead, Ricky and the Harrison family are grateful.  Grateful that Ricky is alive and here with us.  And grateful for their family, friends, church, and even strangers who have come together as TEAM RICKY to support them on this journey.  But the financial costs of Ricky’s medical care are staggering.  There are modifications required to make their home accessible for Ricky’s wheelchair.  And there will be more expenses to come, just to accommodate Ricky’s basic needs and to help him live as normal a life as possible.
