Support for Matthew's Cancer Battle

Since March my cousin, Matthew has been dealing with a stubborn cough, which was thought to be just a regular sickness. After a few months of the cough and attempts of curing a regular sickness, turned into Pneumonia. After the pneumonia diagnosis, the difficulty to breath came bringing on a chest scan. This chest scan revealed a mass above Matt's heart. This mass cause fluid around his chest cavity and collapsing his left lung. A couple days after draining the fluid a biopsy was done revealing that Matt had a rare cancer on August 21st.
The tumor is a rare, genetically defined, aggressive cancer that is not attached to any organ. There are only about 15-20 cases per year since the 90s.
Five days later another scan was completed to check the growth of Matt’s tumor. This scan revealed that the tumor hadn't spread, which was a huge win. Matt's oncologist was able to get in contact with an expert on his condition. Since it's so rare, it's great to have the interest of the entire cancer field. We've incorporated those experiences into his treatment plan which started August 24th.
The current plan is to attempt to shrink the tumor with chemo treatments so that the tumor will be smaller when surgery is done to remove it. Matt will be doing a series of 5 chemo treatments in the hospital with a week of rest after each series. Once the tumor is removed radiation will begin as well the ability to repair his left lung that remains partially collapsed.
We are seeking support with Matthew's upcoming and future medical bills to ease the burden of Matt and his family so that all the attention possible can be focused on treatment. We are hoping for the greatest out come as Matt has a long life to live and many new things in life to experience. He is also looking forward to using his treatment to help others with the same rare cancer.
