Please read Haley's story below. She is a genuine soul who graps the fact that everyday is a blessing more than anyone I've ever known. If after reading you feel it in your heart to give, her family, friends and especially Haley herself will appreciate from the bottom of their hearts. You will bring a big smile to her face and a bigiger fight against cancer. Thank you.

Haley had been suffering from abdominal pains and bloating and pretty much every other symptom of ovarian cancer for a while before it was discovered. She went to see her gynecologist four times in 2015 until the doctor finally agreed to do an ultrasound. That’s when her life spun out of control. December 15th, 2015 is the day she met with her oncologist for the first time and found out she had stage 3C epithelial serous carcinoma ovarian cancer with elements of low and high grade. Her case is extremely rare especially for her age. She immediately went straight into 9 weeks of chemo in order to shrink the tumors in order to carry out a successful surgery. At the end of the 9 weeks Haley and her now husband, Taylor, got married. A few days later they found out the chemo did not work and that Haley most likely had 6 months to live. Haley and Taylor left for their honeymoon to try to be normal newly weds the best they could, but as you can imagine that wasn’t easy. When they arrived home, Haley’s oncologist had come up with a new plan. She wanted us to see one of the best surgeons for this type of case. They immediately flew up to New York to meet with the surgeon who agreed to operate. The surgery was over 9 hours long, but he was able to remove 100% of visible cancer and prolong her life. In order toaccomplish this, he had to remove her ovaries, uterus, multiple softball sized tumors, ¼ of her liver, ¼ of her stomach, a foot and a half of her colon, multiple lymph nodes, omentum, lining of her diaphragm, lining of her bladder, appendix, gallbladder, and spleen. It wasn’t long after the surgery until they discovered that due to the severity of the surgery, she would need a stent in her kidney probably for the rest of her life. On top of having a foreign object in her body, she has to have it replaced every 6 months which means going to the hospital for another procedure twice a year. The stint alone has caused so much pain and hospital visits due to kidney infections that turn into sepsis.

In 2017, she had a reoccurrence that forced her to go back to New York for her surgeon to do a
laparoscopic surgery. They immediately put her on a hormone treatment that seemed to work for thetime being. Due to her cancer being low and high grade it is difficult to treat. In 2018, she had
another reoccurrence and she was put on chemotherapy. Luckily this particular type of chemo didn’t
make her lose her hair. She was on chemo for 18 weeks and it was not easy. Haley deserved something good to happen to her. That good thing happened on January 28th, 2019 with the birth of her son, Weston. It is such a joy to see the happiness her son brings her on a daily basis.

Unfortunately, the good times didn’t last long. She had another reoccurrence in February of 2020. This time she had to go back on the type of chemo that cause you to lose your hair. This chemotherapy treatment lasted 18 weeks and it was very hard on her body. Haley finished her treatment at the end of May and she was able to have a few good months before things went south again. In November of 2020 she was rushed to the hospital with a blockage in her colon due to a tumor. The next day they performed life saving surgery to relieve the blockage, but now she has to live with a colostomy bag for the rest of her life. Its hard to watch Haley continually getting beat down by life. Every time she thinks she is beating the cancer, something else happens.

Over the past 6 years Haley has defied the odds of her diagnosis all while being determined to reach her dreams of being a mom and wife. She has endured 28 surgeries, 3 ports, 2 picc lines, multiple kidney stents, countless hospital stays, and over 54 weeks of chemotherapy. So that brings us to today. They are coming to the hard decision of chemo or trying a new drug. It could have a good possibility to stop the cancer progression. The only problem is that this new drug is not covered by insurance. Luckily everything up until this point insurance has covered most of it. Haley, her husband, and her son truly try to live each and every day to the fullest and are so thankful for God’s endless blessings.
