Jacob Grace to Pan Am Championships
Hello,
My name is Jacob Grace and I am an athlete in the martial art known as Taekwondo. I am rasing money to help get me to compete at the 2016 Pan American Championships in June.
I have been studying Taekwondo for 8 years and it has been my dream to represent my country in the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo Japan. Throughout my journey, I have accomplished many things that brings me closer to making this dream a reality. In 2012, I won the US National Championships in Dallas, TX, earning a spot on the US Junior National Team. With that, I got the chance to represent the United States in Muju, South Korea in the World Taekwondo Culture Expo, earning the Gold Medal.
As I got older, the competition started getting more difficult. However, with the love and support from my family, friends and others, I continue to persue my goal. I then won the National Championships in 2014, recieving an invitation to the 2015 US Team Trials, however I came up short, beoming 3rd in the nation in the Senior Featherweight Division. Although I did not earn a spot on the team, I became more motivated and determined to make it happen.
Then after the 2015 Nationals, I received an invitaion again for the 2016 US Team Trials and the results were overwhelming. On April 30, 2016, I became the 2016 US National Team Member in the Featherweight (-68KG) category. All the hard work and sacrifice finally paid off with this win and my dream of an Olympian is almost in arms reach.
With this win, I have been invited to represent the United States in the 2016 Pan American Championships in Queretaro, Mexico on June 8th & 9th. I will be competing along side and against some of the best Taekwondo athletes in the Americas. This is a huge honor for me.
This fundraiser is to help cover TRAVEL, HOTEL, FOOD and other miscellaneous fees.
Being able to step onto the Olympic Stage is my dream. I hope you can help make my dream come true.
Thank you very much,
- Jacob Grace
