Hello Everyone,

As many of you reading this have heard, my brother’s very significant other, Aspen, has been hit with some pretty unexpected news containing the “C” word! This all happened on April 9th when she (healthy 26 yr old) went for scans of what everyone thought was a chipped bone in her right elbow. Since then, we have been on a roller coaster of good news and not so good news.

Aspen has been diagnosed with Ewings Sarcoma. The tumor is growing in her right elbow and will need to be treated with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. She also has two nodules on her left lung. She was initially scheduled on May 31st to have these nodules removed, her port for chemo inserted, and a biopsy to see if she is possibly dealing with two different types of cancer. She would start chemo 2 weeks after the lung surgery. Today was her pre-op appointment and the plan changed before she could even make the appointment. Her lung surgery has been cancelled and she has been admitted immediately and unexpectedly today at Emory to start chemo ASAP. This is due to test results the oncologist has just received. We are still currently waiting on more answers, but I will not speak anything into existence.

All of that said, they are a full time family of 4 and a part time family of 6 with kids aged 6, 5, 3 and 9 months. Aspen is unable to work and will remain that way for the next 42 weeks at minimum, depending on how the tumor responds to treatment. She is a hair dresser and completely unable to use her right arm, so work is not an option. My brother Craig’s job keeps him out of town mostly Monday- Friday. Any support and assistance from him to her requires missing a minimum of one full day. That is one full day of pay from the only income they currently have and a tough choice for him to make each time between providing enough and supporting. I am reaching out to our family and friends for help to try and alleviate some stress for them. Everyone involved has had their lives turned upside down, however life doesn’t stop, bills do not stop, kids needs do not stop and the cost of taking her to Emory 5 days a week for treatment unfortunately will not stop either. At the end of the day, no matter what the cost, it is worth it to turn that ugly “C” word into CURED! We serve an awesome GOD and have complete trust in him! Any help will be more than appreciated as we remain positive in getting this bump in the road behind everyone! Prayers are very welcomed and appreciated too!

Thank you in advance!
Renee
