Alex's Battle Against Ewing's Sarcoma

Please ignore the "target goal" it's a page requirement. In early October 2019, my 17 year old son Alex started having pain in his left elbow.  At first he thought it was nothing more than baseball pain; after all, he is a catcher. After having pain for about a month, Alex became concern. It was no surprised to neither of us when the doctor diagnosed Alex with a simple case of tendonitis, in late October 2019. Alex was sent home to rest for 6 weeks along with 90 pills (pain killers). Six weeks went by and although the pain seemed to dwindle at times, the pain always came back stronger than before. On December 11, 2019, Alex's doctor requested an X-Ray of his left arm. The X-Ray showed periosteal reaction in the distal humerus and further tests were recommended. After discussing the results with Alex's doctor, I requested an MRI. On December 27, 2019, an MRI of Alex's left humerus showed an aggressive osseous malignancy. After a surgical biopsy, it was confirmed that my otherwise healthy high school senior, has Ewing's Sarcoma. This is an extremely rare type of bone/tissue cancer. Alex's treatment will minimally consist of a year of chemotherapy along with radiation followed by surgery to remove the tumor. We are still unsure of the full health damages since we're pending more tests. At first I was skeptical of creating this page, but after family and friends recommendations and willingness to help, I realized the funds gathered can help with medical expenses that are not covered by my insurance along with co-payments and deductibles.  Alex will also need meal supplements which can be bought with the monies gathered. I foresee the need to buy Alex comfortable clothing and I expect our electric bill to rise as we maintain the comfortable room temperature for my son. These are a few of many more expenses to come and any little bit will help. Thank you all and may God multiply your blessings.
