Hello and thank you for taking the time to read Virginia’s story! I’ve started a Go Fund Me for her recent kidney transplant surgery. As many may already know, she was blessed with a kidney on January 22, 2020. She was diagnosed with kidney disease six years ago and her life took a drastic change. She is a single mom with 3 kids, one a freshman in college, one daughter in the 9th grade, and a son who is in the 10th grade, and he has Spina bifida, which requires him to be at Arkansas Children’s Hospital regularly. She is the sole caregiver to her children and her mother. She has been blessed to have been surrounded by friends and family support through this whole process and one of those family members stepped up to help her get on the kidney transplant list, her brother Andrew Brewer. He is now her caregiver. Since her transplant she has been admitted back into the hospital 5 times from complications. The heart transplant team was in on the last hospitalization and discovered she now has to be scheduled for open heart surgery due to complications from her lupus, within the next 4-5 months. Anti-rejection medications and weekly doctors’ visits will be the norm for life. She is on disability, but as you know she is unable to work for the remainder of the year, maybe longer and bills and rent at home don’t stop. Her brother is her caregiver and she’s had to leave her children at home (two hours away) to be close to the hospital; she has to go every Monday and Thursday for clinic and labs. She does not have a car at the time and relies solely on her brother for transportation to and from the hospital. I have created this go fund me to help Virginia and her family with the costs of medical bills, buy food, pay bills, and pay for the expensive anti-rejection medications that she will be on forever. Virginia will have to be off work for quite some time, and needs to focus on recovery and getting back to a normal life rather than stressing on overly costly medications and bills.
