Dear Friends and Strangers,
It feels very odd using this public platform to request personal help but we will do anything we can do to help our dear sister, friend and teacher Susan Kincade in her continuing brave fight against cancer.

And if GoFundMe.com is just another ‘modern weapon’ to wield in this deadly medical fight… so be it. We are more than willing to use it.

After a long 36-year career as a 'very special', Special Education Teaching Assistant in San Diego, Susan was suddenly stricken with cancer at the end of her career.

Now retired, and over a year after her initial diagnosis, she has already endured long bouts of Chemo, Radiation and is still fighting back tenaciously right now using Immunotherapy.

As such, all medical and care costs are rising and the need for her immediate living circumstances once discharged from the hospital in merely a day or two from now is paramount in our deep concern for her personal well being.

She lives alone and has always been lovingly but stubbornly independent in her life, wanting to stay at home in her own apartment for as long as possible in her illness, surrounded by friends and family. And it’s always been her call.

But she needs 24 hour care once discharged to keep up her brave fight, and since there is no Universal Heath Care in this country as there exists elsewhere in the world, all of her ridiculously expensive healthcare costs for profit will swamp her.  As family we are doing everything that we can do in every way to support her but Susan needs your financial help right now if you can help her out in any way.

This is an especially loud Call Out to all of the Parents and Grown-up Kids with Special Needs that she taught, consoled and calmed down including any of the other brave, dedicated Special Ed. Teachers that Susan successfully helped, joked and inspired throughout all these years at #‘Cubberley Elementary School’ from1995 to 2002 and #‘Wedgeforth Elementary School’ from 2002 to 2016 where she became ill.

These were the great years of her constant, unwavering care and support where she could always read any child’s individual situation and magically tease some wise shape out of the moment to soften or change all the frazzled concerns of a special needs child and their rattled, vulnerable parents alike.

In Susan they all saw a  Rock that they could always stand on for guaranteed support. Including Summer Schools where the Special Needs parents were always left adrift and in need of her wise emotional teachings when school was out and summer held no shape for special children that desperately needed it.

If she only had back in her bank account all that unsubsidized, personal money she spent out of her own paycheck weekly as she continued to expand and experiment with the shapes and stickers and colors that could reel back in a scattered, wavering child’s attention span with just the right bright fishing lure ‘of the moment’, always wielding it gently iike the grand master angler/teacher she is.

For thirty six years.

Now it’s our turn. Every one that knows her. Donating big or small right now, we are all simply trying to give her back just a small slice of the priceless peace of mind that she deserves after all those years of service and sacrifice to our kids and parents.

Susan has always had everyone elses back... now it's time we had her’s.

Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.
