Slovak National Lacrosse Team

Despite the growth of lacrosse in Slovakia over the past 10 years, the government's financial support of the national team is very low. To effectively participate at the 2018 Men's Lacrosse World Championship in Israel, the team is seeking aid for to purchase team gloves, helmets, uniforms, and warm-ups - essentially, the very basics for team equipment and representation. Team dues are already high at 1,500euro per member.

History: In 2003, the first lacrosse club formed in Bratislava, Slovakia by Mark and Thomas Lichtnerovci. The team, dubbed 'Tricksters', began modestly with minimal equipment, but gradually gained momentum and merged with the DLC (Danube Lacrosse Conference).
By 2005, the league had expanded to 5 teams (Passau , Vienna Monarchs, Ljubljana, Tricksters, & Graz ) with the Slovakian Tricksters steadily improving. In 2006, the Tricksters club won the DLC League championship. With the success of the Trickster program, lacrosse in Slovakia increased in popularity. By 2007, another club had formed in Slovakie: Bratislava Bats.
In 2008, the Slovakia national team was formed and competed in the European Lacrosse Championships - the team's first international lacrosse event - finishing 12th. The team continued international play with participation at the 2010 World Lacrosse Championships in Manchester (17th. place), 2011 World Indoor Lacrosse championships in Prague (8th. place), and the 2012 European Lacrosse Championships in Amsterdam (12th place).
In 2014, along with 38 other countries, the Slovak national team competed in their second World Lacrosse Championship in Denver, CO. Continuing that success, the team looks to return the the World Lacrosse Championships in Netanya, Israel in July of 2018.
