Hello,
My name is Jan and I have known Joni since 1974 and am reaching out in Joni's behalf through Go Fund Me in hopes of gaining some financial assistance for the rest of her journey.
A lot of you know and love Joni dearly. Through social media this might reach some folks that do not really Joni so please allow me give you some history of Joni's last 15 years.
In 2005 she was diagnosed with breast cancer. Joni endured intensive chemotherapy and a mastectomy. It was a struggle but she rang the cancer and beat that nasty cancer.
In 2015 she was diagnosed with stage 4 Non-Hodgkins cancer. Once again many chemos and a 3 month stay at close to Northside Hospital in Atlanta. During this time Joni also had a stem cell transplant using her own stems. We were is Atlanta for 3 months and will is was a very hard challenge, once again Joni said "not me" and beat that nasty cancer and rang that bell!
This year, cancer rears it's ugly head for the 3rd time. Acute Myeloid Leukemia with secondary Myeloid Fibrosis. Wow! What a blow, but still the energizer bunny has kept going. That diagnosis came in late March. Several chemo treatments and hospital stays later, tomorrow begins another journey.
Beginning tomorrow, October 2nd, Joni will be in the hospital at the Mayo Clininc in Jacksonville for 3 to 4 months. Chemo will be administered for 6 days. Day 7, we rest. Day 8 she will undergo another stem cell transplant with the cells from a donor.
God bless this donor. All we know is he is from Europe.
Joni is the strongest and bravest person I know. 3 cancers in 15 years and still smiles and is almost always the most positive person I know.
I never dreamed we would be here but we are and facing cancer, bills, and everything that goes with that.
No donation is too small, but please in no way feel obligated to so do. Anything is appreciated particularly prayers and good thoughts.
