As of October 2017, there were over 115,000 children waiting to be adopted in the US. Griffin’s Gift (www.griffinsgift.org), a recognized 501c3 charity created in honor of Griffin Lamar, is looking to help lower that number. Griffin died tragically at just two years of age and his family is continuing to honor his memory with Griffin’s Gift, a fund which aims to help potential adoptive families with the initial financial hurdle of the adoption process. The theory behind Griffin’s Gift is that it becomes a perpetual fund where zero percent loans are given and with each repayment, a new family is awarded the loan; one family helps to create the next. The upfront costs of private adoption can be in the tens of thousands of dollars – often preventing deserving people from completing their families through adopting a child. The Chevalier & Bonilla Families will be participating in the Griffin's Gift Annual 5K fundraising event on July 3, 2018 in Danvers.
