Te Are Manu Vet Clinic - Cook Islands Charity

Donation protected
Myself, Liv Bennie & Kate Pertnikovs are embarking on a 3-week trip to Rarotonga in January to volunteer as veterinarians in the charity vet clinic on the island. All 3 of us are graduating our Bachelor of Veterinary Science at UQ in early December. The clinic primarily sees dogs/cats and occasionally large animals (goats, cows, pigs etc.). The main goal of the clinic is desexing (there is an estimate of 7000 dogs on the island) however, trauma (hit by vehicle, bite wounds) and toxin cases are quite common.

Te Are Manu (Cook Islands) Incorporated is a Cook Islands Registered Charity Organisation, based in Rarotonga, that operates the only Veterinary Service in the Cook Islands. The clinic is a community-based initiative and is 100% locally owned and operated.

All donations received will be going straight to Te Are Manu and will provide the animals and people of Rarotonga with much needed ongoing veterinary care.

We are grateful for any size donation - every bit counts. If you want a reference for how much to donate, here are some rough direct costs of common procedures at the clinic:
De-sexing Dogs (castrations and spays) $50 Male-$60 Female each
De-sexing Cats (castrations and spays) $20 Male-$30 Female each
Consultation $20
Flea treatment $15/pet
X-rays $40
Lump removal $60 – $100
Medication $10 – $40
Bandaging $10 – $50

If you work or know someone who works at a vet clinic and want to donate veterinary equipment, send me a message and I will forward you a list of what they need most. Thank you so much.
