Help my family to evacuate from Gaza

Hello, my name is Elli-Maarit Merilehto from Finland. I have set this campaign on behalf of the family of my Palestinian friend Zidan. His family is currently in Gaza and they are suffering a lot from various things such as fleeing from their homes, lack of food and water, heavily spreading diseases, dirty living conditions and lack of hygienic products. By this fundraising we want to help Zidan's family to evacuate from Gaza as soon as possible. I would kindly ask your support by donating whatever you can. Zidan's message:

Hello, my name is Mohammed Zidan, I am 24 years old and I study biochemical engineering in Romania. I am reaching out to you to help me to evacuate my family out of Gaza. My dear mother and two sisters with their 4 children are trapped in Gaza. Everyday the situation is getting more deadly and dangerous. These months have been very unhuman from every aspect of life and living in constant fear affects them physically and mentally. Tragically they were forced to flee out of sudden several times for their lives when my mother’s apartment was bombed in Khan Younis in Hamad city. Also my two married sisters houses were bombed.

My mother's story:

My mother is 64 years old. She worked as a social worker serving people in need for more than 40 years. She raised all of us and took always care of our needs. She insisted for us to have a good education and helped us all her life for us to achieve our goals and dreams. In 1963 my mother’s parents house was bombed killing her mother and brothers. In this incidence she lost her left hand. My mother has suffered a lot in her life, also my father died 2019 leaving my mom alone. She is a strong woman but these current conditions affect her mentally and physically due to her older age and health conditions. I am not able to help her in any way, this is why I am reaching out to you.

What would we do with the money:

Currently, the only way out is by crossing the Gaza-Egypt border. Crossing costs $10 000 per person (for above 12 years old) and $5000 (for less than 12 years old). Application visa is around $1000 per person. It is estimated that $7000 is enough for covering the basic needs of my family in Egypt including the accomodation, food and other essentials. Plane tickets and starting a new life in Romania need additional costs. By this fundraising we are able to collect only 10 000 euros due to fundraising restrictions by Finland’s law. Later on we will do another fundraising in order to collect all money needed to evcuate my family from Gaza to safety.

Any amount of donation, no matter how small it is, will make a significant difference to the safety of my family. We believe there is hope and light in the future for my family. We are grateful for your support. May God bless you and keep you safe!

Su familia está actualmente en Gaza y están sufriendo mucho por diversas cosas como huir de sus hogares, falta de comida y agua, enfermedades que se propagan rápidamente, condiciones de vida sucias y falta de productos higiénicos. Hola, mi nombre es Mohammed Zidan, tengo 24 años y estudio ingeniería bioquímica en Rumanía. Me pongo en contacto con ustedes para pedir ayuda para evacuar a mi familia del genocidio en Gaza. Mi querida madre y dos hermanas con sus 4 hijos están atrapados en Gaza. Cada día la situación se vuelve más mortal y peligrosa. Estos meses han sido muy inhumanos desde todos los aspectos de la vida y vivir en un miedo constante les afecta física y mentalmente. Trágicamente, se vieron obligados a huir de repente varias veces por sus vidas cuando el apartamento de mi madre fue bombardeado en Khan Younis en la ciudad de Hamad. También las casas de mis dos hermanas casadas fueron bombardeadas.

La historia de mi madre:

Mi madre tiene 64 años. Trabajó como trabajadora social atendiendo a personas necesitadas durante más de 40 años. Nos crió a todos y siempre se ocupó de nuestras necesidades. Insistió en que tuviéramos una buena educación y nos ayudó toda su vida para que lográramos nuestras metas y sueños. En 1963, la casa de los padres de mi madre fue bombardeada matando a su madre y hermanos. Ella estuvo bajo los escombros durante dos semanas hasta que fue rescatada. En este incidente perdió su mano izquierda. Mi madre ha sufrido mucho en su vida, también mi padre murió en 2019 dejando a mi madre sola. Ella es una mujer fuerte, pero las condiciones actuales la afectan mental y físicamente debido a su edad avanzada y condiciones de salud. No puedo ayudarla de ninguna manera, por eso me pongo en contacto con ustedes.

Qué haríamos con el dinero:

Actualmente, la única manera de salir es cruzando la frontera entre Gaza y Egipto. Cruzar cuesta $10,000 por persona (mayores de 12 años) y $5,000 (menores de 12 años). La solicitud de visa cuesta alrededor de $1,000 por persona. Se estima que $7,000 son suficientes para cubrir las necesidades básicas de mi familia en Egipto, incluyendo el alojamiento, la comida y otros esenciales. Los billetes de avión y comenzar una nueva vida en Rumanía necesitan costos adicionales. Con esta recaudación de fondos solo podemos recolectar 10,000 euros debido a las restricciones de recaudación de fondos por la ley de Finlandia. Más adelante haremos otra recaudación de fondos para recolectar todo el dinero necesario para evacuar a mi familia de Gaza a un lugar seguro.
