My parents have evacuated the island to another island in the Bahamas and are currently trying to make their way up to Iowa.

Hello Everyone, my name is Zinnia Mincy and I am a proud born and raised Bahamian. I have created this GoFundMe account in aid of my parents who, like many Bahamians, are currently in survival mode trying to get through the horrendous conditions left by hurricane Dorian. We are residents of the beautiful Abaco Islands in the Bahamas, that were and still are COMPLETELY devastated by Hurricane Dorian’s wrath.
My parents, like thousands of other abaconians, have nothing to go back to. No home, no car, no job, no island. The place we once called home, no longer exists—our poor Abaco Island is no more. They continue to fight each day to find a place of refuge amongst all the rubbish of the aftermath and chaos. No one really knows what the future holds for our home, our island, except for the almighty Lord above.
I have primarily created this account for the sole purpose of helping my parents re-start their lives i.e funding in order to find housing off island, clothes, shoes, food, etc. We need the help to give them the opportunity to start new somewhere else and help give them a life even remotely close to what they were trying to build before Dorian. It is very very hard not to look at the bad side of this situation, but at least we are grateful that they have their lives. Dorian took everything, but didn’t take our hope for them to possibly create a new life, one that can be filled with new opportunities.
I normally don’t create things like these, especially knowing that so many people are experiencing this nightmare, but they need this—they need the help and I can not hesitate to get them this nor can I do it alone. So please, I ask, out of the goodness of your heart, to please donate to this cause for my parents. All of this funding will go toward the sole purpose of rebuilding their lives. Anything helps. These are some serious times, but I know with the help of our Lord and Savior and the generous hearts of many people all over, we can help make this request for my parents, a reality.
