Help With Transplant Medications
Donation protected
I need a kidney transplant. I am trying to raise money to cover kidney transplant expenses not covered by insurance. These expenses include lodging and anti rejection medications. Medicare only covers the first $2800 of medication and then you have to pay $5000 out of pocket before they give you catastropic coverage. Two months of anti-rejection meds will be more than the $2800 Medicare first covers. Anti-rejection medication is vital to the lifespan of the donated kidney. I am currently on the transplant list but have inactive status until I can show that I have money available to cover medication costs not covered by Medicare. I have four years of time on the list and it is a 4-5 year wait for my blood type( b+). I really need to have active status in case there is a matching kidney available sooner than that. Any help is greatly appreciated. If anyone has B+ bloodtype and wants to be an altruistic living donor that would help also.
