Dear friends and family,
I am setting up this fund raising page to help my brother Steve manage the many financial burdens he is facing as he struggles with the kidney disease he has developed from living with Type 1 diabetes for over 30 years.
At his most recent visit to the doctor he has discovered that his kidneys are functioning at only 27%. As a result, he will need to go on disability as his condition has left him weak and his job requires physical strength. As the disease progresses, Steve will be required to undergo dialysis and eventually a kidney transplant.
Because Steve and his family live in Rapid City, a rural community outside of Brandon, they will be making many trips to Brandon and Winnipeg for medical appointments. Having said that, they will require a reliable vehicle. Just this week, the motor in his truck seized and he will require a new vehicle. When it rains it pours!!
As some if you know Steve, you understand that he is a very private and proud person who would never dream of asking for help. This is why I decided to reach out to family, friends, and members of our community to help me support my brother. The money raised will help Steve in the following ways:
- Living expenses as Steve waits for his first disability cheque to come (at least 2 weeks)
- Pay for gas and parking for medical visits
- Supplement his disability cheques to help pay for living expenses
- Give him peace of mind that his family will be able to get by as he is recovering
When a loved one is struggling we all ask ourselves what we can do to help. Making a donation of any amount will go a long way to help Steve and his family during this incredibly difficult time. Every little bit helps and is appreciated more than you know!
