Hi! My name is Taylor and dancing and dance education are my passions. There are few things I find more rewarding than seeing young kids mastering and exploring their voices through dance. My emphasis in dance education is ballet.
Ballet, a discipline by definition, empower student by giving them tools that help them succeed in life out side of the studio. Ballet demand strength, grace, percision and perseverance.
Through my own injuries I have solidified by belief that each dancer needs to be taught how to challenge their body while respecting its limitations. As a teacher of ballet, this is the hardest thing to make fun but is most important to the health of young dancers.
I have been fortunate enough to be a part of the Alabama School of Fine Arts ballet preparatory program for two and a half years and in that time I have learned so much about how I want to teach and the areas where I need to grow to become a better teacher. I have started this ‘GoFundMe’ so that I can continue my dance education by attending the American Ballet Theatre (ABT) National Training Curriculum program this summer.
Why ABT? This curriculum introduces young dancers to ballet while allowing them to safely explore their interest in this art. This method places emphasis on respecting the limitations of a growing body while at the same time instilling discipline and perseverance while maintaining nurturing creative environment. Most importantly I feel that this teaching style is in alignment with how I invasion my self teaching.
My fund raising goal is $2500. This would cover the cost of my tuition for the nine-day course and my flight to the training site in New York City.
