My name is Deston "D.J." Munden and welcome to my GoFundMe.
I am an African American author that write science fiction and fantasy books. I have several drafts of several books in two different worlds including a 160k-word Tavern, a 40k novella Crow Father, an 80k Scifi Dusk Mountain Blues, and my current project, Duke's Brand. They are fun, high action novels filled with emotions, drama, magic, swords, laser guns, assassins, smugglers, you name it meant for fiction fans everywhere. They are meant to be an escape from the world you know into a world that's both amazing and emotional.
The reason for the GoFundMe is simple, getting started in the industry is hard. I've been told time and time again that I have a good concept, good writing, and a fantastic world. They aren't willing to take the risk on me because I'm new and inexperienced or they don't feel comfortable representing me as a person.There's not many African American authors in my genres, so I want to change that. I want to be the change that I want to see in the world. So, I'm going to take it in my own hands and build my way up to traditional publishing.
