Tater's path to recovery!

Donation protected
My brother's name is John Kirkland, but we call him "Tater". I call him "Boo Boo". He is 47 years young and was diagnosed last June 2016 with colon cancer. They did surgery and said they got it all. However, just 8 short months later the cancer was back but even worse and in the lymph nodes. Tater has completed 6 long weeks of chemo and radiation everyday (5 days a week). After the first 6 weeks of chemo and radiation, the doctors ordered another CT scan. First results were promising but after further investigating, the cancer did decrease in size but is still there. Tater was told by his surgeon that there was nothing else he could do for him and another surgery was not an option. They have recommended to resume chemo at highest dose to try and keep cancer at bay but that the cancer would keep coming back. Well we are believers and we have FAITH! We know that God is the ultimate healer and there is something that God can do! We believe FAITH over fear. We called MD Anderson in Houston, TX and got him an appointment on June 26th. The appointment process will take 3 days. My mom and I are traveling with him to Texas for his appointment. Tater is a hard worker and has been self employed for several years. He has many friends and family that have been wonderful in supporting Tater with their prayer and words of encouragement. Tater is a proud man and doesn't want to ask anyone for a handout. However, he can't do this alone and not will he! We held a benefit last July which really helped him with the costs of the first surgery and travel. Unfortunately, those funds are long gone. Shortly after his surgery, Tater secured a job with benefits but with demanding physical labor and long hours. He didn't care as long as he could work and have insurance. Due to his cancer coming back so quickly, lymph mode involvement, and the side effects of his diagnosis and treatment, he is not able to work anytime soon. He has applied for disability but of course was denied on first attempt. Disability will take some time to fight but we will fight for it. We are setting up this fund to humbly ask you for any help you can give. If it's just a dollar, that dollar will help. Please rest assure that we will continue to pay it forward! We know that God has a different path for him and we are going to walk it with him. FAITH over fear! Thank you for your support, prayers, and words of encouragement! We love you all!
