Tart's Vet Bill

This is Tartini, or Tart, as we call her. I got Tart from a farm back in 2007, when she was just 8 weeks old and I was still living in an apartment that didn't allow dogs (we snuck her in for the two weeks we had left of our lease, very covert-like), and we've been inseparable since. She's been with me through thick and thin, through the trials of undergraduate and then graduate school. She was there for me when my mom passed away, when I couldn't find a place to live afterwards, when I finally got my dream job, when I met the man who would be my husband. She was a huge motivation for me to lose some weight and get healthy, because a dog's gotta walk. It's hard to imagine my life without this furry little beast who still believes the mailman is her archnemesis and the vacuum cleaner is a demon that emerges from the closet once a week to try and eat her.

As you may have heard, Tart has a cancerous tumor on her leg that will become terminal if not treated. In order to save her life, we need to have her leg amputated. This was a hard decision for us, but we truly believe it is the best for Tart. She has good odds of walking away from the ordeal with her full lifespan intact and a good quality of life ahead of her.

Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is hitting us quite hard, and we have turned to friends and family to hopefully help ease the burden a bit. I know this isn't feasible for everyone, and I would never judge anyone who doesn't donate for whatever reason. We would overwhelmingly appreciate any help people were willing to offer though. Every little bit helps. If a financial donation isn't a possibility, we just ask that you please share this so others can see it.

The money we are asking for will help cover the cost of the initial biopsy, the amputation surgery, any prescribed medication, and a few things we need for the house to make it easier for Tart to adjust to having only three legs.
