Taroush Family - Evacuating Ga.za and Medical Help

Hi Everyone!

My name is Mariah and I have created this GoFundMe to help my friends, the Taroush family (who are currently living in a tent in a refugee camp), evacuate.

From left to right, we have Buthaina (9 years old), Muhammad (13 years old), Abdul Rahman (9 months old) and Rami (14 years old). What they have endured as children is absolutely horrific and the situation is very dire.

Over the past few months, the Taroush family have experienced so much grief, loss and pain. They have had several martyrs in their own family, most recently the children’s uncles (pictured above, may they be granted so much peace in the Hereafter). The Taroush family also had their home in the north (which they built on their own, photos below) completely reduced to rubble which forced them to make the dangerous journey on foot to the southern most area (where 1.4 million people are currently seeking refuge).

The family is currently living in a tent where the conditions are very harsh and dangerous. They have been struggling to find food and basic necessities, including formula and diapers for 9 month old, Abdul. Everything has become so expensive which is another factor that makes their daily lives that much more challenging. Unfortunately over the past two weeks, Bathaina has been incredibly sick and with no access to healthcare or medication, she is getting more sick as the days pass.

I ask you to please donate whatever you can and share widely to help my friends get to safety in Egypt. Right now, the cost to cross the border is anywhere from $8,000-$11,000 per person, with the costs rising as each day passes. The funds are to get all 4 children and their mother, Samha Nama Taroush (32 years old) to safety as quickly as possible. The rest of the funds will go towards food and shelter once arriving in Egypt (we are waiting to find out about visas and the costs associated to get them to Greece to be reunited with family they have in refugee camps there). We will also be using a portion of the funds to be able to get Buthaina to a doctor so that she could be treated properly and given the medication she needs to recover quickly. We have also taken into account the money that GoFundMe will take from each donation. Any left over funds will be distributed back to their extended family and friends who could not evacuate. I will personally distribute the funds to them, I will be transparent and share the receipt once I do. I will also continue to share updates.

Getting to know this family over the past few months has been the greatest honor of my life. It is with a heavy heart that I wake up every morning to check to see if they’re okay. No one should have to live like this, every single one of them is a person with a full life. They are not just numbers, they are all special and unique and are worthy of living a beautiful life like any of us. Below, I will include extra photos of the family over the years, it will most definitely bring a bittersweet smile to your face.
