As many of you know, the world lost a hero. My father passed away very unexpectedly on September 12, 2019. If any of you knew my dad, even met my dad for a brief moment, you knew he exuded an infectious energy of laughter, joy, charm, and generosity.
He truly was an example of the American dream and embraced the American culture. An immigrant, with an entrepreneurial spirit building up successful businesses, who loved watching football on Sundays. A die-hard Chargers fan. Enjoyed classic rock.
My dad was the most resilient man I ever knew and will ever know. A man, who immigrated to the U.S, fighting through the trials and tribulation after the fall of Saigon including years spent in refuge camps, multiple attempts to escape Vietnam, each time landing him in jail, and finally succeeding and leaving his foot print as he had multiple successful businesses - of course each had its own adversity and hardship, especially in 2008 after the recession. But again, his resilience won. And somehow, my dad once again, fought through it all in order to protect his family.
Along with this resilient man, came an even more resilient woman. My mother. And as you all can only imagine, she is going through the toughest time of her life. She loved this man unconditionally. They had a marriage filled with so much love, everyone who came across it was jealous. They were inseparable. The best of friends. Every night - drinking and sitting together, playing music together, laughing together, more laughter, and then the same thing all over again the next day. They did this for 37 years. And it should have been another 37 years. He was gone too soon.
My dear mother, my rock, she is taking it the hardest. Along with losing her best friend, without getting into details, she will be going through upward battle of financial struggles. I’ve hesitantly set this account up in hopes to ease a tiny bit of stress for her. It’s not easy to ask for money, but these funds will go towards the funeral, towards some of the financial burden my mom is battling, and more. I know 25k may be a stretch, but every bit helps.
For those that have reached out to us, we thank you so much for your condolences. It does not go unheard. In this difficult time, my mom is grieving in her own way, as we all are so please be patient with us. We find peace in knowing that he is safe with Jesus now and forever. His end here on Earth is the beginning of an eternity in the presence of our God. And the best thing we can do now for him, is to celebrate his Homecoming.
