Hey everyone, my dad's sweet dog Talle recently got hit by a car when she was visiting my mom and brothers, and she may need to get her leg amputated. She was never trained to be off a lead, and she followed my dad outside and bolted towards the road, where she was hit in her right back leg.
My dad and his girlfriend Ellen have been by her side at the veterinary and the expenses are racking up really quickly, whether she needs the amputation or not they are already looking at a bill of about $3,500. They are bringing her to an animal surgeon tomorrow (8/23) to take a look at the leg in hopes we can save it. Currently the goal is $1000 just to make a dent in all of this, but hopefully I could surpass this as my dad and his girlfriend have spent their summer preparing their house to move, and although they would never ask for this sort of help, I know any little bit would help with all of the expenses they've had to take on in the past few months.
Talle is SUCH a sweet girl, she's great with kids and other animals and really has a kind soul. Before my dad retired just last year, after 30 years at a family & children services nonprofit, she spent many of her puppy days playing with underprivileged kids and teenagers. She exudes a sort of calmness and trust in people (even to those she doesn't know) and I think its something we could all learn from our dogs, especially her. She loves her family dearly and my heart has been SO heavy thinking she could even be in the slightest bit of pain (although she's been in good hands at the vet). Any little bit of help would be so appreciated by all of us Goodemotes as well as Ellen's family. If you can't help out financially a share would also be so so appreciated.
