Taking Paceys plea on the road to success

Hi my name is Cath. First of all a HUGE THANKS for the support to date with Paceys Plea. Without this hundreds of young people wouldn’t have benefitted from our presentations and awareness sessions. I think we all agree prevention is better than cure where alcohol and substance misuse are concerned! Also that it is becoming a growing concern in our society.
I originally set up Paceys plea following the sudden loss of my 26 year old son to a drug overdose in 2014.
I have since dedicated untold time on promoting Paceys Plea and making sure my son's loss is not in vain. Losing David was the most devastating and traumatic experience of my life and it broke everyone's heart who knew him.
No child wants to grow up and become an addict and no parent has a child and expects them to die before them. Children deserve to be educated on the dangers around alcohol and substance misuse. We as adults should do everything we can to protect our children, our future generations.
I made it my goal to try and help prevent other families from having to go through the same pain. To try and encourage young people to stop and think about the impact their lifestyle choices have on them and their family.
Paceys plea does this by sharing my emotional story with young people in the hope it will give them enough information to help them make an informed decision on their lifestyle choices.
I set up Paceys plea originally as a group on Facebook and more recently a page where you can if you wish find more information on how far Paceys plea has progressed.
Paceys plea has to date helped alot of young people and their families by talking, supporting and sign posting them where needed.
Paceys plea very quickly gathered alot of local support of which I am eternally grateful and so I decided to set up as a not for profit community interest company in the hope of raising funds to further promote this work.
Paceys plea has visited schools, colleges and behavioral units delivering a very personal message through presentation work, giving students an insight into the consequences misuse can have on them and their families.
The feedback so far has been amazing and everywhere visited to date would like Paceys plea to return.
I have attended numerous meetings and have had local government support enabling me to carry out my work as well as support from the local community, parents and organisations working in this field.
To further our work we desperately need transport. We have set a small goal of £2,000 to get a reliable car on the road taxed and insured. It could bear the Paceys plea logo to help promote it.
Travelling on buses around the North East with all of our materials isn't feasible. We need to be able to get from A to B safely and quickly to make sure we reach as many schools, colleges and units as possible.
Paceys plea is gaining momentum and interest is growing further afield. Reliable transport is the key to our long term success in reaching as many venues, meetings as possible.
Paceys Plea is a passion and we have some exciting plans in the near future to help take David's legacy further and reach more young people. All progress will appear on the Facebook page.
I know and appreciate that alot of people will be struggling financially due to the current situation and that is why any donation however small would be greatly appreciated. Every penny could go towards getting this vital message out to
future generations and potentially help other families.
