Take Heart Gary Golladay Medical Fund

On November 13th, 2020 our father, Gary Golladay, was admitted to Parkview Hospital with an undiagnosed heart condition that needed immediate attention. His health rapidly declined as organs began to fail after an untimely discharge and secondary admittance a week later. By this point, he was not at a hospital that could perform the heart surgery he needed and was also not stable enough to transfer to a hospital that could.
On December 3rd, my siblings and I were told that the only thing left to do for our dad was to send him to hospice for palliative care. After talking things over as a family, he decided he wasn't done fighting for his life, and did not want to consider hospice at that time. Upon expressing his wishes and our support to the hospital staff, we were told of one additional option, an aggressive medication that, under the best circumstance, could allow for our dad to become stable enough to be transferred to a different hospital where further treatment could be considered. With hopeful hearts, our dad returned to the ICU to begin treatment.
By December 8th, he had progressed enough to transfer to UCHealth with the hope of becoming stable enough for a heart surgery that could save his life. There were many barriers along the way that inhibited his ability to be a candidate for the surgery he needed, and endless tests that made his days and nights in the hospital incredibly long. Through my dad's will, prayers from many, the strength of family, and the help of many friends in the Rye community, we are so blessed to announce that our dad was able to receive the appropriate procedures he needed on December 23rd and December 28th!
After 48 days, our dad was finally able to return home December 31st! A true Christmas Miracle! He has a very long road to recovery ahead of him, including home health treatment and countless follow up appointments; but by God's Grace, we could not be more blessed to have him here with us!
As we all know, 2020 was a very unforgiving year for most people and for many reasons. Our father's unexpected medical journey has taken a mental and financial toll that many others have also faced this year. As a family, we want to thank every person for taking the time to read this! If you are able to donate financially to help with past and ongoing medical expenses, we are beyond grateful for your help! From my entire family, we want to thank everyone who went out of their way to assist us with all of the hurdles we had to jump over to bring our father/son/brother/grandpa/uncle back home!
