Taff Trail Wheelchair Challenge '19
In July 2018 I finally had a long awaited below knee amputation on my left leg. I have always loved the outdoors. I used to work on farms, do mountain biking, camping, hunting & fishing and numerous other outdoor pursuits. The new lease on life this operation has given me has been amazing. I am finding that I can finally return to doing some of the activities I have been missing out on in recent years. While in hospital recovering from surgery, I made the decision to traverse the Taff Trail to raise money for Disability Sport Wales! This is a tricky trail and to train, as wells as to complete it, I will need a specialist chair; a Trekinetic off-road chair. Not only will it be essential for this task but many day to day actions, as well. The chair itself costs almost £4000 new but due I managed to get one second hand which was partly funded by your generous donations. All money raised from here on will go direct to Disability Sport Wales and I'd be so grateful if you could help me reach my fundraising goals.
My employers, Cooperative Food, are also supporting me and have collection buckets/tins in the large stores in South Wales so feel free to donate when you're at the till!
I can't wait to complete the Trail, and many more adventures that this surgery has freed me to partake in.
After struggling with my leg for so long it brings hope that I'll be able to enjoy the outdoors like I used to.
Thank you for your donation.
