For those of you who don't know me I am Tad's sister Tracy.
Like many of you that have followed Tad over the last 2 years since his cancer diagnosis, I have just wanted to help ANY way I can. I can preach on the way Tad has been my hero and impacted my life in so many ways but this is about what Tad needs and how we can all help him NOW.
Tad would never ask for help himself, and you all see how he continues to GIVE to all of us during his darkest hours, but I know what a financial burden his two years of medical hell have been for him. As most of you know, Tad has never once complained and is always focused on the positive in his life. Cancer has eaten away at his body and tortured him in every way imaginable, but cancer has NEVER been able to touch his beautiful spirit or his gift to inspire others.
While Tad has pretty good medical insurance (except for a high deductible, medical supplies and medications not covered) the immediate need is for help with living expenses while he is in LA for the Phase 1 clinical trial. Tad is the first person in the world to get this treatment of 4 billion modified donor cells 2 times a week. Typical of Tad, he said that even if this doesn’t help him, he hopes it will pave the way for future cancer patients.
Tad needs a stable living environment vs the hotels he has been in and out of over the last couple of months. His minimum out of pocket expenses for this has been around $15,000 per month (flights, hotels, food, transportation etc.). My goal is to secure his next 4 months basic living expenses.
At this point, every breath Tad takes is a struggle. I have felt so helpless in not knowing what I could do to help him. I assume his thousands of Facebook followers feel the same. I know I can’t breathe for Tad or take away the pain of future medical treatments, but I decided to start this Go Fund Me as it is the one thing I can do - help ease his financial struggle.
