Tacoma Home Arson Fire

Donation protected
Monday January 15th was MLK Jr. Day. My daughter and her 4 cousins had a day off from school and my mother-in-law Teri took them all out for the day. They saw a movie and went back to her house in Tacoma where they played with my sister-in-law Alychia and her husky Opie. It was time for dinner so everyone left the house and ate at a restaurant right up the street.

Unfortunately, while they were gone for that short amount of time a fire started in their home. The smoke from the fire claimed Opie's life, we pray that he did not suffer. Things can be replaced but he cannot and that is what is most devastating for our family.

Last night neighbors told us that there was a man in the area earlier in the day trying to sell fire extinguishers and that the kitchen window was already broken before crews had arrived. We didn't want to believe that someone would commit such a horrible, purposeful act but today the fire department has ruled it arson.

If any of you know our mom, she gives whatever she can to help someone in need. She is a voice for anyone that cannot use their own. As her kids, she’s been there far more than we can repay her for and right now we will be her voice. We know it will not help put their lives back to where it was, but any little bit will help ease the physical, emotional, and monetary burden that they are and will be facing.

Thank you from the Colòn, Tucker, and Cruz families
