Taber's eye surgery and future!

Our beautiful and loving Son Taber is 12 years old. Tay was born with epilepsy and has been through so much. When he was an infant  he was having over fifty seizures a day. We were told there was a chance he would never walk or talk. He battled through everything and not only walks and talks but he plays baseball and basketball and loves both. He recently made his middle school basketball team! We recently took Tay for a routine eye exam where we were told that he had low vision in his left eye  and he needed to see a cornea specialist for further testing.  After seeing the specialist we received news we could not believe. Taber has a rare progressive eye disease called Keratoconus. We had never heard of this disease. We were told that there is no treatment for this disease but there is a procedure that can possibly stop the progression of it. This procedure is in clinical trials and has been very recently approved in the US. It is called corneal cross-linking .This procedure can essentially stop the progress of the disease which has moved quickly into the advanced stages in his left eye and has spread into his right eye.   We are essentially trying to preserve what vision he has left in his left eye and stop the progression in his right eye. Because the didease has advanced so rapidly, the Doctor has given  us a window time  of 4-8 weeks that we need to get the procedure done.There will be  a long road ahead of Taber after this but with Taber's will and strength and our million per cent love and devotion we will get through this. The procedure is not covered by any insurance. We will make this happen no matter what. We promise. This surgery and whatever he needs for the rest of his life. Thank you for listening.
