Medical Aid For Rape Survivors in Tigray

The purpose of this fundraiser is to raise money to buy feminine hygiene products, contraceptives, and medication for the rape survivors taking refuge in Ayder Hospital in Mekelle and the several schools that have been turned into makeshift hospitals and refugee camps due to the ongoing violence and war in Tigray. Since November 3rd of 2020 the region of Tigray in northern Ethiopia has been in a state of emergency due to the ongoing war and political tensions after conducting regional elections while the rest of the country had postponed them. It has been over three months and the region is under a telecommunications blackout, man made famine, and under attack by invading forces.
Hospitals, business places, homes and farmlands have been looted and destroyed. As information slowly makes it way out into the world it has been discovered that rape has been used as a weapon of war. These survivors were innocent civilians and could potentially be pregnant against their will and are in desperate need of aid. There is currently inadequate care being given to the people of Tigray due to the ongoing war and communication blackout and these rape survivors are amongst the most vulnerable.
