Save Mercy!

My name is Grace Werner, I am a junior at Our Lady of Mercy Academy, a small Catholic high school in Syosset, New York. On Monday, January 8th, the students and faculty were notified that, at the closure of this school year, Mercy will be shutting down permanently. This leaves us all in a state of limbo, juniors need to find new high schools for senior year as well as deal with the college process, sophomores and freshmen will be left without their friends and seniors won't be able to visit their teachers and underclassmen friends.

To some, this may seem like just some random school closing, but to the Mercy girls, we are losing our home and family. Personally, I have been to seven schools, Mercy was supposed to be my last. In Mercy, I have made more friends than ever before and finally feel like I belong. The small size of our school only brings us closer to each other. Mercy is a place where everyone can truly be themselves. I have not met a single judgmental person in this school, we are all there for each other in times of need and celebrate everyone's victories.

Mercy is also filled with history, it has been open for 95 years. There are thousands of alumni who care just as deeply about the school as those currently attending. Mercy is not just a place, it is a culture, a community and a home. Please help us save our home.

The students and faculty are trying as hard as we possibly can to keep our beloved school open. In order to do so, we need to raise 3 million dollars as quickly as possible. The board of directors has given up on us, we need to prove to them that Mercy deserves to stay open, at least until the current students graduate. Any and all donations help, the Mercy girls will be eternally grateful!

Grace is a student at OLMA.

2. "Transfer plan to get the funds from Gofundme to the intended recipients":

a designated account will be set up from which the funds will be transferred to the appropriate entity or governing body

3. "how the funds will be spent"

the funds will be used to keep the OLMA open
