Maple, Clementine and Amelia
These precious 10 week old girls are our foster kittens. We've been caring for them since they were 5 weeks old when they were trapped along with their mother by a friend. After reaching out to a few local rescues, we were unable to find one able to take the girls into their program, so we opted to foster them ourselves.
Last Wednesday, the girls received a wellness visit at Brevard Spay & Neuter as well as a Panleuk/Rhino/Calici vaccine and tested for FeLV/FIV, which were all negative. This visit totaled $144.
They've since been scheduled for their spay surgery on November 10th, which also includes a welness exam, booster vaccine, rabies vaccine and flea control. Each 'cat package' will cost $65 per kitten.
The girls have been very healthy until this week when they began to slow down on their food intake, they developed severe diarrhea and lethargy. It was also discovered on Wednesday that the kittens have Roundworms, for which they're being treated.
And while Amelia and Clementine have begun to show improvement, Maple has been struggling and today she required medical intervention. She's dehydrated, lethargic, has persistent diarrhea and vomiting, and won't eat on her own, for which I'm syringe feeding her every few hours. She also required SubQ fluids, a fecal exam ( that didn't show anything remarkable) and blood work as well as being prescribed antibiotics. Maple's visit today cost $80.
Despite all this, her Vet wasn't able to note anything conclusive that would explain her current condition. So for now, we continue with antibiotics and round the clock supportive care until all is well again. And once they are, they will adopted out to their forever homes.
If you find yourself able, all donations will go toward the kitten's medical expensives, both for their upcoming spay surgery as well as Maple's current need for extra care. Any funds raised above and beyond those needed, will be held in reserve and utilized in the future if and when another kitten finds it's way into our home, which will undoubtedly happen.
