SURGERY TO SAVE "MARVEL"

Marvel is a young husky mix and her superpower is her will to survive. A few weeks ago an animal control officer got a call that a sweet pup had made her way onto a good Samaritans property and was in need of immediate help. Thankfully this caring Animal Control Officer (Officer Hill) picked up Marvel and contacted a local animal rescue, New Beginnings for Merced County Animals.

 

Marvel had been hit by a car and had lost the use of her back legs during the accident. Although the officer was unsure of how long ago the incident occurred, it was apparent that Marvel had been dragging her back legs for quite some time. This poor pup had learned how to survive on her own by using just her two front legs. Marvel had a spark in her eyes and a personality that would melt your heart. She was a fighter and knew that she finally was going to receive the help she needed when officer Hill arrived. 

When officer Hill contacted the President of New Beginnings (Sharon Lohman) she couldn't get over the pup's spirit, strength and will to live. This sparked an idea- that Marvel would be the absolute best candidate for a cart! Sharon immediately contacted an orthopedic vet in Fremont where it was determined that Marvels back legs would need to be amputated. Sharon has drove Marvel to the Bay Area several times for vet appointments and cant say enough about this sweet girls personality! 

Marvel has continued to fight ever since she was hit by a car. It was her will to live, her charisma, her love for everyone and her charm that immediately captured the heart of all of her followers. We have set up a Go Fund Me to help with the double amputation, the specialized cart and physical therapy.

Marvels surgery is scheduled for tomorrow and will cost around $12,000. She will also need physical therapy and a specialized cart to help her get around. The cart will cost roughly $1000. Although we aren't sure how long physical therapy will be needed and what physical therapy will cost we are going to do everything we can to help Marvel get to the next chapter in life. 

 

We couldn't be happier for this sweet girl and we know that she is forever grateful.  Although she had a rough start, good things are coming her way soon. In fact, we have so many wonderful followers that love her and look forward to hearing about her progress as well as a family in Montana waiting to adopt her!
